Velvet Catering and Events offers the finest catering services to Northwestern Vermont. We are passionate about food and every project in our kitchen. We offer the best seasonal ingredients and use the bounty of Vermont's farm-fresh harvests. In a thriving global culinary culture, we pride ourselves on our diversity of cuisine. We work with each client to create boutique menus that ensure the enjoyment of both guests and host. Whether catering an intimate dinner party for six, or a reception for two hundred we guarantee our clients receive the individualized, personal attention they deserve.

For our September wedding in Isle La Motte, Chef Shawn Lipenski, provided a multi-course meal that encompassed the legacy of our southern roots with a forward thinking palette. Our families greatly appreciated the effort in the kitchen, and the dutiful service at the dinner tables. Elegance is a notion that in our contemporary times we lose sight of. Velvet Catering allowed us to recapture that notion while sharing it with our family and friends. Tremendously recommended.

Meet the Chef
Shawn Lipenski
Shawn Lipenski formed his palate for fine cuisine and food cart fare during his college days in New York City. He believes that great food inspires thoughtful conversation and strives to bring the best of both to your table. Shawn's culinary adventures through Prague, Berlin, Amsterdam, Cost Rica and most of the continental United States inform his taste for bold flavors and playful presentation.
Most recently, Shawn cooked as the sous chef for two-and-a-half years at Catering by Dale where he led events large and small at some of Vermont's most impressive venues including: The Coach Barn at Shelburne Farms, ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center, Shore Acres and The Ferry Watch Inn.
Shawn volunteers his talents for several charitable organizations and spends his free time growing heirloom tomatoes in his tiny backyard garden.
The food was simply extraordinary. Our guests raved about how professional and kind the servers were and how all of the food was set up very elegantly. I just can't say enough about the entire experience, from the initial arrangements with Shawn to work within our budget, to the clean up, it was the smoothest event I've ever been a part of.
